MP named which percentage of refugees will not return to Ukraine.

More than 60% of Ukrainians currently in exile may remain abroad and stay there permanently. This opinion was expressed by MP Ruslan Horbenko, noting that the government has not paid sufficient attention to citizens who left the country during the war.

'Over the past three years, nobody has paid attention to the problems of people who have gone abroad. However, this is a very important mission – to ensure the preservation of national identity and create conditions for their return. Unfortunately, most will likely remain there forever,'

Horbenko urged the government to reconsider its approach to this issue and to move from responding to events to preventing them in order to avoid losing a large part of the Ukrainian people.

Actions of the EU and Germany

Additionally, the Council of the European Union has extended temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees. Meanwhile, Germany has decided to increase the requirements for refugees applying for unemployment benefits.

The Ukrainian government needs to improve its policy to retain citizens who were forced to leave the country during the war and to facilitate their return after the conflict ends. Similar steps are being taken by the EU and Germany, but it is important to ensure coordination of actions at all levels for a successful resolution of this issue.
