Sanctions against the 'shadow fleet' of the Russian Federation
Oleksiy Honcharenko stated that the Parliament voted today on a law to impose sanctions on the vessels of Russia's 'shadow fleet'. 291 lawmakers supported this initiative.
'In addition to the shadow fleet, sanctions can also be imposed on ships and aircraft transporting weapons and military personnel. The SBU will monitor this. This data will then be entered into the state sanctions register,' the MP explained.
The law stipulates that Ukrainian legislation allows for the imposition of sanctions against individuals, but not against ships and aircraft.
'Sanctions and the seizure of Russian ships will enhance Ukraine's security and limit the Kremlin's ability to support military actions through uncontrolled transports,' emphasized the authors of the law.
The Parliament also increased the number of SBU staff and their combat units. Additionally, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, and his government. A new government will be formed tomorrow.
