The SBU special service discovered and detained three agents of the Russian military intelligence (GRU) who intended to carry out a series of explosions in Vinnytsia. According to preliminary information, their target was to destroy a Ukrainian Armed Forces vehicle and a police building. The investigation established that initially, the perpetrators planned to plant a homemade explosive device under the vehicle of a Ukrainian warrior with the aim of killing him from a long distance. However, thanks to the timely response of the SBU, the executors of this plan were detained while they were preparing the site for the explosion.

According to the SBU, among the detainees were two women who were recruited by the Russian special services through Telegram channels. They arrived in Vinnytsia for money received from the Russian GRU, rented an apartment, and obtained the location and two homemade explosive devices. Together, they tried to hide the explosive substance in thermoses and set it to explode using screws, which would lead to the explosion of the vehicle and later - to a new terrorist attack near the police building. However, due to the operational activities of the SBU, the criminals were detained, and they were seized weapons and mobile phones with evidence of communication with the Russian GRU.

The SBU suspects the perpetrators of criminal actions, for which they face life imprisonment with confiscation of property. This SBU operation is just one of the changes taking place in the counterintelligence sphere aimed at preventing possible terrorist acts and stabilizing the situation in Ukraine.
