From 80% to 20%: Ukrenergo Reveals Critical Change in Network Operation During Blackout.

Ukrenergo reports insufficient capacity in the energy system and problems with mobile communication during power outages
According to Ukrenergo, the base stations of mobile operators require constant power supply for normal operation. In case of power outages, communication may worsen or be completely interrupted, regardless of the presence of generators and batteries.
Another issue is the overloading of the mobile network. Normally, 80% of traffic goes through fixed internet, while 20% is through mobile. However, during power outages, this ratio changes dramatically, leading to equipment overload.
The electricity consumption level corresponds to seasonal indicators. On December 16 at 6:00, the level was 1.5% higher than the previous working day. The maximum consumption on December 15 was in the evening, 2.8% lower than on December 14.
The premises of power generation stations are utilizing only 35-40% of their capacity. The minimum load on such stations can be reduced by lowering the overall electricity consumption.
Ukrenergo also reported electricity imports from five countries: Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova. A total of 21,226 MWh was imported, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,142 MW in certain hours.
