Throughout the day, the Russian army repeatedly violated the ceasefire. There were 67 Russian assaults against our positions in various directions, particularly in Pokrovsk. Russia carried out 1355 shellings, of which 713 were heavy weapons and 673 were mortars. This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, spoke about this at 20:00 on April 20.

Zelensky stated that Russia did not fulfill its promise of silence. He said: 'In practice, Russia did not adhere to its promise of silence on all key fronts. Russia lacked the Time throughout almost the entire day to respond to our proposal for a complete silence starting from Easter for 30 days.'

The President also emphasized that there were no air alerts today.

He offers Russia to refrain from any drone and missile strikes on civilian infrastructure for at least 30 days, with a possible extension later. If Russia does not agree, it will indicate that it continues the war and destroys people's lives. Zelensky called for the continuation of the achieved silence.

The USA also supports the idea of extending the Easter truce between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.

It is also worth noting that Russian leader Vladimir Putin did not allow the Easter truce to be extended, which was supposed to last until April 21 at 00:00.

It was previously reported that Russian troops are using the Easter truce announced by Putin to accumulate forces in the Kharkiv direction, but the National Guard of Ukraine released this information.

It is worth reminding that Putin had at least three reasons to announce the Easter truce, but the Russian occupiers do not adhere to it.
