In Ukraine, 'labour pensions' have been abolished: what was provided to pensioners instead.

Pension provision reform in Ukraine
An important reform of pension provision was carried out in Ukraine, which involved replacing the system of 'labour pensions' with an insurance model. Now the amount of the pension depends on the amount of paid insurance contributions, rather than on labor indicators.
The pension provision system before the 2004 reform included several directions: pensions for age, disability pensions, pensions in case of loss of the breadwinner, and pensions for length of service. In addition, there was a separate category of social pensions for persons without the necessary work experience.
In 2003, Law No. 1058-IV was adopted, which carried out a radical reform of the pension provision system. The result of this reform is a new three-component structure of pension payments.
Now pensions are paid depending on three main categories: by age, disability, and in case of loss of the breadwinner. The updated model provides that the amount of the pension depends on the amount of insurance payments made during the working life.
It is important to understand that modern pension provision is formed based on insurance contributions, not based on previous labor indicators. Therefore, citizens must be responsible and attentive to the process of forming their future pension and timely pay insurance contributions.
The reform of pension legislation in Ukraine corresponds to the global trend towards an insurance model of pension provision, which ensures greater transparency and fairness in the system of social protection of citizens.
