Ukraine took second place in the overall standings of the European Championship (U23) in women's wrestling.


The Ukrainian women's wrestling team took second place in the overall standings at the European Championship (U23) in Tirana, Albania. This was reported by 'Gavkom'.
The Ukrainian women's wrestling team won second place at the European Championship (U23) held in Tirana, Albania. Overall, our stars earned five medals at this tournament. Iryna Bondar became the European champion in the weight category up to 62 kg, while Alina Filippovych and Manola Skobelska won silver in their weight categories. Maria Orlevych and Oleksandra Rybak won bronze. However, first place in the overall standings was taken by the Turkish team.
In Tirana, the European Championship in freestyle wrestling (U23) among men also took place. The draw allowed Ukrainian wrestlers to win five awards: silver medalist Volodymyr Kochanov in the weight category up to 125 kg. Denys Sahaliuk, Mykyta Abramov, David Mchedlidze, and Narek Poghosyan won bronze medals in their weight categories. The Azerbaijani team was the winner of the overall standings.
This is already the second victory of the Ukrainian national team in Europe this month; earlier, the national team in kudo took first place at the European Championship among boys and younger boys in Lithuania. Ukrainians won eight awards, including two gold medals received by Yevheniy Sidletskiy and Diana Sviderska.
Kudo is a full-contact martial art that combines kyokushin, judo, and Muay Thai, created in 1981 by eastern martial arts master Azuma Takashi. It is also worth mentioning that Oleg Doroshchuk, the Ukrainian high jumper, became the European champion in indoor athletics.
