In Russia, the only factory producing fiber optics for drones was attacked. This is reported by local groups and Russian media. Russian media confirmed that the attack occurred at the 'Optical Fiber Systems' plant in Saransk. This is the only enterprise in Russia that produces fiber optic cables for drone control on the front. Local residents reported hearing strong explosions and seeing a fire at the factory.
A series of explosions occurred in Saransk around 02:20 AM. Residents of the city heard ten explosions. Videos appeared on social media showing drones flying over the city. According to the governor of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov, operational and emergency services are working at the factory. Currently, there is no information about casualties. The 'Optical Fiber Systems' factory is the only enterprise in Russia that produces optical fiber for controlling drones on the front. This fiber is resistant to electronic warfare, making drones that use it particularly dangerous for Ukrainian military forces. An attack on such a factory can weaken military communications and control systems in Russia. The factory is a key player in the Russian market, with a large production capacity of up to 4 million kilometers of optical fiber per year. This is already the second case in which Russia faces losses in the military sphere. Earlier reports indicated losses of nearly 10% of strategic bombers.'An attack by UAVs occurred in Saransk. Eyewitnesses observe a strong fire in the building of the 'Optical Fiber Systems' factory.' - Russian media reports.
