The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced two telephone conversations with French President Emmanuel Macron that took place on Wednesday, April 17, against the backdrop of important negotiations in Paris involving representatives from Ukraine, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States.
'I spoke for the second Time today with the President of France. I thank Emmanuel for his leadership and for today's work in Paris by our representatives: Ukraine, France, Britain, Germany, and the United States,' - Zelensky wrote on social media.The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of interaction between partners and coordination of their positions in efforts to ensure the security of Ukraine and all of Europe. He expressed gratitude to France and other countries participating in the negotiations for their work in Paris. The Ukrainian delegation in Paris held meetings with representatives from France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States and discussed ways to achieve a fair and lasting peace, including a complete ceasefire and security guarantees for Ukraine. According to the report from Foreign Minister Andrii Sybyha, further contacts and meetings were coordinated during the discussions.
'The duration of peace will directly depend on the fairness of positions in diplomacy and the effectiveness of security architecture,' - the President of Ukraine emphasized.The statement by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the expectation of a response from Russia regarding the ceasefire proposal in Ukraine as early as this week has generated optimism about a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The French side characterized the negotiations in Paris as 'an excellent exchange of views' and planned to hold the next round of consultations in London.
