Tariffs for utilities, subsidies, pensions, NMT, VLK: what will change for Ukrainians from May 1.


From May 1, changes will begin that affect certain groups of mobilized Ukrainians. New deferral options will also be available through the 'Reserve+' application. Standards for traffic lights will also change, and rules for gasoline distribution will be introduced. Changes are also coming for graduates who will take the National Multidisciplinary Test. Utility tariffs will remain unchanged.
Changes in scholarships
Students of military educational institutions will see their scholarships increased to 8000 hryvnias. Graduates who study excellently will receive 20,000 hryvnias. The same amount will be given to cadets during their internship. Changes will take effect from May 1.
National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT)
The main test session will take place from May 14 to June 25. Registered participants will receive invitations with information about the date, Time, and location of the test. This information will not be published in the public domain. An additional session is also planned from July 14 to July 25 for those who missed the main session. Registration will last from May 9 to May 14, and changes to registration data can be made until May 19.
Changes in basic military training
From May 1, the duration of basic military training for conscripts with health issues will be reduced. Such individuals may serve only in rear units. The new training program will last 30 days instead of 45.
Additional deferrals from mobilization
For conscripts, starting May 8, two new types of deferrals will appear in the 'Reserve+' application: for individuals with temporary unfitness for service (6-12 months) and for citizens whose spouse is serving and has a child under 18 years old. The Ministry of Defense also plans to add the possibility of paying fines for violations of military accounting with a 50% discount through the application.
Changes in traffic lights
From May 1, a new DSTU standard for traffic lights will come into effect: the green color will change to an emerald shade, solid arrows will be replaced with chevron ones, combined bicycle-pedestrian traffic lights will appear, all traffic lights will be equipped with countdown timers, as well as buttons for calling the traffic light signal and audio devices for people with disabilities.
Addition of bioethanol to gasoline
From May 1, all gas stations must add at least 5% bioethanol to gasoline, which reduces harmful emissions. This practice is already in use in Europe. The change in fuel prices for consumers is not expected to be significant.
Utility tariffs
The moratorium on raising tariffs for utilities remains in effect due to martial law. Tariffs for heating, hot water, and gas remain unchanged. The last full month for undergoing medical examinations for receiving subsidies is May.
Pensions
No pension increase is planned for May, but retirees will receive bonuses upon reaching a certain age. Changes in family structure or property status require contacting the Pension Fund. It is possible to apply for housing rental assistance.
Checkpoint
The checkpoint 'Shehyni' will be partially closed to passenger cars until May 10.
