The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, expressed outrage over the potential threat posed by the victories of pro-Russian parties in the parliamentary elections. She claims that Russia is actively working to destabilize the situation in the country and may use various tools, including energy pressure, to influence the political process. According to Maia Sandu, Moldova and Ukraine have the potential to join the EU and contribute to peace and security on the continent. She warns of possible attempts by Russia to undermine democratic institutions in Moldova through interference in the electoral process. Among other elements of Russia's pressure on Moldova are energy blackmail, trade embargoes, support for criminal groups, disinformation, and financing pro-Russian parties. The Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu, also expressed outrage over the illegal presence of Russian troops in Transnistria, which he called a violation of the country's sovereignty.
