Nord Stream 'frozen': Germany does not plan to return to gas cooperation with Russia.

Representatives of the relevant German authorities confirmed this position during a briefing.
'We consider the sanctions imposed against Russia due to its war against Ukraine to be justified, relevant, and effective. We support and will continue to support these sanctions imposed at the EU level,' said the deputy spokesperson of the federal government, Christiane Hoffmann.
The spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, Katrin Deshauer, emphasized: 'Without peace, there will be no changes in European sanctions.' She added that Russia must do everything necessary on its own to lift the sanctions by stopping military actions against Ukraine.
Representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Anika Aingorn, commented on the information about a possible return to gas purchases from Russia. She stressed that Germany has already made significant efforts to reduce its dependence on Russian gas and does not intend to return to this practice, as energy independence is of great importance.
According to her, there are no plans to import gas through the remaining operational branch of the Nord Stream pipeline. She also stated that the German government is not involved in any negotiations between the USA and Russia regarding the pipeline.
Aingorn also noted that the German government does not purchase Russian liquefied gas but does not rule out the possibility that 'molecules' of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) may be present in commercial purchases.
