Man Evasions Military Service but Later Joins Armed Forces of Ukraine - Court Verdict.


A combat medic was tried in Odesa for evading mobilization. The man ignored the summons but later voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is stated in the court's verdict published on the website of the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
Case Details
In July 2023, a resident of Odesa passed the military medical commission and received a summons for conscription; however, he refused mobilization. Later, the man voluntarily entered military service, and he currently holds the position of a combat medic.
In court, the serviceman explained that he refused to serve in the military as he was not morally prepared at that Time to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Additionally, he was caring for his sick mother, and when she passed away, he was in a depressed state. Eventually, the man underwent the military medical commission again and joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Court Verdict
The court found the defendant guilty of committing a criminal offense under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The man was sentenced to three years of imprisonment with a probation period of one year.
