Sunflower prices have fallen sharply - Grain Exchange.

As of early June 2025, sunflower prices in Ukraine have fallen to 24,500-25,500 UAH/t (or 520-540 $/t excluding VAT) with delivery to the factory at a standard oil yield of 50%. According to the Electronic Grain Exchange, the main reason is the reduced activity of processing companies, which have significantly decreased their purchases.
'As of June 5, 2025, 4.93 million hectares have been planted with sunflowers, which is 97% of the planned areas. Experts are surprised by the reduction in sunflower areas this year, which had been expected to increase due to the high profitability of cultivation.'
Sunflower oil prices remain stable, and exports are currently at a level of 1,090-1,100 $/t to the Black Sea and 1,140-1,160 $/t DAP Greece or North Macedonia. Global prices for palm and soybean oil remain stable. Traders and processors are waiting for the completion of sowing in the Northern Hemisphere and updated USDA forecasts, which could lead to further pressure on the market in the coming weeks.
The Ukrainian market for sunflower seeds and oil is currently experiencing a phase of falling prices due to reduced purchases by processors. Experts hope for an improvement in the situation after the completion of sowing and the updated USDA forecasts.
