The Kmytiv Museum Damaged by Explosions near Zhytomyr.


As a result of the explosion in the Zhytomyr region in the village of Berezino, the Kmytiv Museum of Fine Arts named after Yosyp Buhanchuk suffered serious damage. This was reported by 'Glavkom' with reference to the museum's Facebook page.
As a result of the explosion, windows, frames, and curtains that protected the exhibits from light were damaged. The stained-glass windows on both floors were covered with cracks, and the exhibition was left among shattered glass. The doors of the museum and the storerooms were also damaged.

The Kmytiv Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1974 by the artist, front-line soldier, and collector Yosyp Buhanchuk. The museum has a unique collection of socialist realism, Ukrainian modernism, and 20th-century art: about 3,000 works of painting, graphics, and sculpture are presented in 10 halls.
The exhibition includes works by Tetiana Yablonska, Serhii Hryhoriev, Mykola Hlushchenko, Anatolii Kushch, and other artists. The museum is an important cultural center of the region, showcasing both classical and contemporary Ukrainian masterpieces.
