British government institutions have begun to prohibit workers from flying around the country.

Organizations in the UK are increasingly prohibiting their employees from flying across the country due to environmental concerns. Even some government agencies, universities, and local councils are introducing such restrictions. For example, the National Health Service NHS England has banned business travel for its 1.5 million employees from 2024, except in exceptional cases or where it helps save costs.
The Imperial College London has also banned 8,000 of its employees from flying for business trips within the country if the destination can be reached by train in no more than 5 hours. Some companies have also restricted flights to mainland European countries if a certain city can be reached by Eurostar train. However, it is worth noting that British trains are considered some of the slowest and most expensive in Europe, and the railway infrastructure has its shortcomings, making a complete ban on air travel impractical at this Time.
In France, there is already a ban on domestic short-haul flights, as there is a more convenient alternative - the train, which takes less than 2.5 hours. Moreover, according to Eurocontrol, the number of domestic flights in the UK has decreased by 25% from 2019 to 2022, which is one of the largest reductions among all European countries.
