British scientists are creating an ocean settlement at a depth of 200 meters
A group of scientists from the United Kingdom is working on creating the first permanent underwater settlement at depths of up to 200 meters. The project, called Deep, involves the installation of mobile research stations equipped with bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a shared room. This will allow researchers to spend more Time studying the ocean depths and makes the project attractive to tourists.
The project is financed by an anonymous billionaire who has provided over $120 million. According to plans, the first residents of the settlement will be able to stay underwater for 28 days starting from 2027.
However, such a project has its risks, as the ocean can be dangerous for humans. Therefore, scientists believe it is necessary to develop safety technologies for exploring marine areas. The goal of the project is to create permanent underwater settlements in various oceans around the world.
Researchers from Cornell University found that floating solar panels on water bodies can increase greenhouse gas emissions by up to 27%. They have many advantages, such as producing clean energy, saving space, and reducing water evaporation. However, they can also harm the environment.
